MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Possession of a valid Nevada Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license at the time of hire; or
- Certification as a Land Surveyor Intern (LSI) with the ability to obtain a Nevada PLS license within one (1) year of hire. In accordance with NRS 625.386, applicants must either hold a Bachelor’s degree or be in the final year of a Board approved land surveying or engineering curriculum of four (4) years or more at the time of application, and must have passed the fundamentals of land surveying examination outlined in NRS 625.280
- Four (4) years of professional work experience in land surveying with two (2) of the years in a lead or supervisory role.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Must possess and maintain an OSHA 30-Hour card within 15 calendar days of hire.
- Possession of a valid license as a Professional Water Rights Surveyor in the State of Nevada is preferred.
- Previous Municipal surveying experience is preferred.
- Incumbents in positions that require possession of valid licensing/certification as a condition of employment must obtain and maintain such credentials within the established time periods, and throughout the course of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain required licenses or certifications in good standing may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
SELECTION PROCESS

- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%):

- Pre-Employment Screening – For non-police positions only: Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
