An Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success! 

This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Police department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $27.71. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
  • Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.

THE ROLE
Under general supervision, assists the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) in managing in the entry, auditing, and verification of data into various local, state, federal and national law enforcement and criminal justice systems and databases. Provides continuing training, certification, technical operational updates, and user access maintenance for team members, vendors, and contractors who have access to local, state, and federal criminal justice systems.

IDEAL CANDIDATE 
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator position is highly detail-oriented and capable of multitasking effectively. They should be proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word and comfortable with public speaking and presenting. This candidate will assist in managing data entry, auditing, and verification across various law enforcement and criminal justice systems. They will also provide ongoing training, certification, and technical updates to team members, vendors, and contractors. Key responsibilities include preparing training programs, maintaining user access to multiple databases, troubleshooting system issues, conducting background checks, performing audits, and ensuring compliance with technical guidelines. The candidate should have strong organizational skills, be able to develop training schedules, and respond to inquiries from various agencies. Additionally, they will participate in professional meetings and stay updated on new trends in computer training and law enforcement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, public or business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a court or criminal justice environment, including one (1) year of experience working with law enforcement and criminal justice systems and databases.
  • NCIC/NCJIS experience is desired.
  • Equivalency: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, including police, court, or corrections, records experience with one (1) year of multi-platform, multi-vendor automated information processing systems in a law enforcement environment. 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess a valid Nevada state driver’s license or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must possess and maintain a Terminal Agency Coordinator Certification and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) within six (6) months of hire/assignment. 

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
  3. Oral Board Interview with Excel Practical - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
  4. Pre-Employment Screening - Background Screening/Investigation Includes an extensive background check, polygraph/CVSA examination, medical/drug screen exam. All top scoring candidates must pass the Background Investigation in order to move forward in the process. Applicants who proceed in the selection process will be required to complete an extensive police background. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 3 to 4 months to complete. Among other items, the following are disqualifying behaviors: 
    •    Any felony conviction.
    •    Any domestic violence conviction.
    •    Gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
    •    Although there have been recent changes to laws regarding the legal possession and consumption of marijuana, the City of North Las Vegas will continue to adhere to its professional standards and guidelines as it relates to recent and continuous use of the drug.
  5. Selection/Offers-

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
