MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, communications or a field related to a function of municipal government; and
  • Three (3) years of full-time progressively responsible administrative and analytical experience performing organizational and operational analysis work in a government or business capacity, including experience
    supporting a manager or executive level position.

Equivalency: May substitute a combination of equivalent education and experience. The city assesses 1 year of full-time experience as equivalent to one year of education.


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.

Knowledge:

  • Standard Office administrative and secretarial practices and procedures such as business letter writing and the operation of common office equipment, including a computer.
  • Standard Human Resources principles and practices.
  • Computer hardware and software applications related to the work.
  • Record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.
  • Correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Standard business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals.
  •  Basic organization and function of public agencies.
  • Basic supervisory principles and practices.
  • Basic budgeting and financial record keeping principles and practices.
  • Microsoft office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access as well as Hansen software.
Skills:
  • Communicating effectively with others, orally and in writing.
  • Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments with a minimum of direction.
  • Applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Accurately proofreading copy with accompanying knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
  • Effectively and efficiently operating a computer.
  • Taking dictation using shorthand or recording/dictating equipment and transcribing.
  • Organizing, processing, and maintaining information and documents in an orderly fashion.
