ESSENTIAL INFORMATION 

THE ROLE

The Building and Fire Safety Intern will support the building and fire safety department with plan review and building code requirements. Over the counter assistance to customers pertaining to building permit. Respond to phone calls regarding building code questions. In addition, the Intern will assist the department with daily office tasks which includes but is not limited to the following: answering emails, assisting clients, etc

Pay Considerations 
The hourly pay for this position is  $15 - $19 based on education level

Work Schedule
This position is scheduled to work up to 28 hours weekly between Monday and Thursday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., with the possibility of occasionally working weeknights and weekends to attend outreach events.

Part-Time/Temporary Position

  • This position is a part time/temporary position and does not include health or medical benefits.
  • Hours for this position will not exceed 935 per calendar year (see weekly hours for this position under work schedule).

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate would possess Basic knowledge/understanding of building code concepts and city ordinances. Senior college or newly graduated preferred.

The ideal candidate would also be a self-starter and detailed-oriented as well as possess exemplary phone and email etiquette, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Current enrollment in any of the following degree programs: engineering , architecture, or a related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • A valid Nevada driver’s license
