MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration or Finance
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience and advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of the purchasing functions.
  • Public sector purchasing experience is preferred.
  • Equivalency: Eight (8) or more years of education, training, and experience, which provide knowledge of laws, regulations, NRS Statutes, City Municipal Codes, skills, and abilities required for the job and related to the essential functions of the position.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Requires a valid state driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within the required timeframe. 
  • A Certified Public Purchasing Officer or Certified Public Purchasing Buyer is highly desirable.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
  3. Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%) - Dates to be determined.
  4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
  5. Selection/Offers - 

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
