ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations – The salary range for the position is $61,114.36 - $97.361,16. Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience.
  • Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36 hour work week)Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm.

THE ROLE
Perform a variety of technical duties involved in the procurement of materials, supplies, services and equipment for City departments and operations in accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes and City policies. Perform specifications, development, preparation, contract administration and negotiations, as required for the most complex formal solicitations (Bids and RFPs) and agreements (contracts), including construction, professional and technical services, materials and equipment contracts. Performs checks to ensure account is accurately classified based on purchase of a good or service. Assist the Finance Department with audit documentation preparation and other tasks, as assigned. Supervise employees performing related work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration or Finance
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience and advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of the purchasing functions.
  • Public sector purchasing experience is preferred.
  • Equivalency: Eight (8) or more years of education, training, and experience, which provide knowledge of laws, regulations, NRS Statutes, City Municipal Codes, skills, and abilities required for the job and related to the essential functions of the position.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Requires a valid state driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within the required timeframe. 
  • A Certified Public Purchasing Officer or Certified Public Purchasing Buyer is highly desirable.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
  3. Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%) - Dates to be determined.
  4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
