Education and Experience
- Two years of progressively responsible law enforcement management experience as a lieutenant in a police, marshal, or correctional facility; OR
- Five years of progressively responsible law enforcement management supervisory experience as a police, marshal, or correctional facility sergeant.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver's license.
- Valid State of Nevada Category 1, 2 or 3 P.O.S.T. certificate at the time of hire, or the equivalent from another state at time of hire and the ability obtain State of Nevada Category 1, 2, or 3 P.O.S.T. within department time frame.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application – Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- Application review – The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume. Determination of qualifications will be made solely on information provided in the application and responses to the supplemental questions. The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
- Interview – Thursday, February 1, 2024 – The best qualified candidates from the application review will be invited to the interview.
- Meet & Greet – TBD – Top candidates from the interview may be invited to meet our Court and City Leadership team members.
- Pre-Employment Screening – Background screening/investigation may include but is not limited to an extensive background check, polygraph/CVSA examination, medical/drug screen exam, previous employment/education verifications, and past and current employment file/evaluation review. All top scoring candidates must pass the Background Investigation in order to move forward in the process. Applicants who proceed in the selection process will be required to complete an extensive police background.

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
