ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $25.04. Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience but will not exceed the one third (1/3) of the range.
  • Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36 hour work week)Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm (hours may vary). 

THE ROLE
Under general direction, provides general administrative support to the City Clerk and other staff within the department, including scheduling, filing, correspondence, and performing tasks related to passport services, archives and records retention, and public records requests. Ensures compliance with legal requirements for records management and provides excellent customer service to the public. Assist in maintaining accurate records, processing documentation, and in the coordination of city-wide records management programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public or Business Administration, Information Management or closely related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in records management, clerical work, or administrative support.
  • Experience in a municipal or government setting is highly preferred.
  • Experience with passport processing is desired.
  • Equivalency: Any combination of education, experience or training relating to records management, administrative support, or document processing. The city assesses one (1) year of related work experience to be equivalent to one (1) year of education.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver's license, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must obtain and maintain Passport Agent Certification - All mandatory provided training and submission of application to U.S. Dept. of State for Passport Agent Certification must be completed within thirty (30) days of date of hire.
  • Certification in Records Management (CRM) or similar credential is preferred.
    *Incumbents in positions that require possession of valid licensing/certification as a condition of employment must obtain and maintain such credentials within the established time periods, and throughout the course of employment. Failure to obtain or maintain required licenses or certifications in good standing may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.


SELECTION PROCESS

  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.

     

  3. Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
  4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
  5. Selection/Offers

The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
