ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations –The salary range for the position is $55,875.14- $88,402.06. The starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience but will not exceed the midpoint of the range. *This is a Grand Funded position, funds will expire in September 2026.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36 hour work week) Tuesday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.
- Environment – Must be comfortable working with inmates on a regular basis.
THE ROLE
Working as part of a collaborative care team, the Correctional Rehabilitation Technician will assist individuals with substance abuse, mental health and disorders to obtain health, residential, financial and social services; provide assessments and develop and participate in care management plan development and implementation. Will advocate on the individual’s behalf for services needed, link with other agencies and internally for services, and refer as needed. Participates in treatment plans and provides advisory and consultative services related to programming.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Community Correctional Center is looking for applicants who are eager to help build and create this new program for our Jail. Someone who is organized, innovative and has the ability to work side by side with our community partners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or closely related field. Combination of education experience will be considered.
- Bilingual preferred
- A minimum of one (1) year of specialized work experience in:
o Casework in a correctional institution or in another criminal justice setting
o Counseling in any setting provided it required diagnostic or treatment planning skills to achieve specific social or occupational goals
o Work treating persons in need of social rehabilitation - Equivalency: In addition to the minimum of one (1) year of specialized work experience, any combination of experience and education with a minimum of four (4) years of experience working with individuals with criminal justice involvement and/or working in a correctional setting. The City recognizes one (1) year of working experience in clinical social work, or related field that resulted in the same knowledge gained to one (1) year of education.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain an appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- NCIC Certification within six months of hire/reclassification.
- ORAS Certification within six months of hire/reclassification.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Oral Board Interview - Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%
- Pre-Employment Screening – Background Screening/Investigation Includes an extensive background check, polygraph/CVSA examination, medical/drug screen exam. All top scoring candidates must pass the Background Investigation in order to move forward in the process. Applicants who proceed in the selection process will be required to complete an extensive police background. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 3 to 4 months to complete. Among other items, the following are disqualifying behaviors:
• Any felony conviction.
• Any domestic violence conviction.
• Gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
• Although there have been recent changes to laws regarding the legal possession and consumption of marijuana, the City of North Las Vegas will continue to adhere to its professional standards and guidelines as it relates to recent and continuous use of the drug. - Selection/Offers -
The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
