MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or closely related field.
- Two (2) years of experience working in a criminal court or rehabilitation facility.
- Equivalency: Six (6) years combination of education, related work experience, and/or training in the direct provision of substance abuse and/or mental health treatment services. The city assesses one (1) year of full-time related work experience as equivalent to one (1) year of education.
- Must obtain certification in NCIC within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain certification in NCIC as a condition of continued employment
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver’s license, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Experience with interviewing, alternative sentencing programs, or experience with social service or counseling agencies that deal with behavioral and/or substance abuse issues is preferred.
SELECTION PROCESS

- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%):
- Pre-Employment Screening – For non-police positions only: Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
