MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science or information technology.
  • Three years professional experience with at least a 33% focus on database development and administration. Experience must be with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server database platforms.
  • Must be adept at Structured Query Language (SQL) with a proven record developing commands, scripts, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Experience with installing and administering Windows Server and Linux based operating systems.
  • Programming experience in Microsoft.Net, Java, or PHP preferred.
  • Scripting experience with Windows or Linux servers preferred.
  • Education Equivalency: Six years professional experience with at least a 50% focus on database development and administration. Experience must be with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server database platforms.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Database certification equivalent or greater than Microsoft Technology Associate (Database) or Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Associate.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
  3. Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
  4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.
  5. Selection/Offers - 

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
