CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: 

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Three (3) years of progressively more responsible professional experience as a Deputy City Attorney I - Civil for the City of North Las Vegas or similar municipality or five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience as a practicing attorney in the assigned specialty area.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Nevada at time of application and be in good standing with all state bars to which he/she is licensed to practice law.
  • Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver's license within required timeframe.
  • Must possess admission (or be willing to apply for admission) to practice law before the Federal District Court of Nevada and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

     

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume. The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include:

  1. Prescreen
  2. Oral board interview 
  3. Selection Interview
  4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
    This process may be modified to include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.  The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
    Appointment may be subject to the successful and timely completion of a post offer pre-employment background investigation and medical/physical examination, including a drug/alcohol test.
