The Chief of Police or designee may determine training and experience guidelines as requirements.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field and two years experience with digital evidence, digital forensics, cyber and other related crimes as it pertains to mobile devices and other applications. Equivalent specialized training, education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.

Principles related to digital forensics and evidence recovery methods and devices both in office and crime scene settings.

Perform statistical analysis, analytical research and link analysis.

Department rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of pertinent state and local laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations, including case law and laws regulating digital surveillance and investigations.

Knowledge of investigative subpoenas related to technical data.
-
Knowledge of search warrant requirements for electronic devices and other sources of digital data.

Provide expert consultation throughout investigative process on matters relating to digital evidence and digital analysis.

Knowledge of forensic software programs including but not limited to: Cellebrite, Graykey, Berla-iVE, ZETx.

Knowledge of evidentiary procedures, packaging, handling and preservation of evidence.

Ability to analyze results, formulate conclusions and present findings verbally and in writing.

Ability to provide expert, credible testimony in a courtroom setting.

Ability to provide technical and functional direction to department members to assist with collection and preservation of digital evidence.

Maintain confidentiality of information.

Maintain accurate records.

Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Ability to remain flexible, adjusting work priorities based on investigative requirements.

Ability to understand and operate complex computer software.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of employment.

Ability to withstand viewing of crime scene photographs and other nefarious images.

Required to exercise a significant level of independent judgment.
