ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations – The salary range for the position is $78,928.75 – $118,396.24 Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.
- Environment – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25* pounds unassisted. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, walking, and working on slippery and uneven surfaces. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
THE ROLE
The Engineering Associate (Utilities), plays a vital role in reviewing and evaluating water and sewer design plans for residential, commercial, and industrial development projects. Working under the direction of a Senior Engineer, this position ensures plans meet federal, state, and local regulations while also providing technical guidance on public infrastructure such as utility systems and storm-water facilities. The role requires independent management of multiple project reviews, calculation of connection charges and fees, and coordination of inspection and bonding requirements. Exceptional customer service is key, as the Engineering Associate regularly assists developers, engineers, and the public with technical questions and information related to water and sewer infrastructure.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Engineering Associate (Utilities) will have a strong background in water distribution and wastewater collection facilities hydraulic modeling and design, which may include pump stations, storage reservoirs, well sites, lift
stations, water mains and sewer mains.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field.
• Two (2) or more years of progressively complex and responsible related work experience with knowledge and familiarity in the theories and principals for application to practical problems and solutions.
Licenses and Certifications
• Must possess a valid Nevada state driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
• Possession of State of Nevada Registered Engineer Certificate. If licensed in another state registration in the state of Nevada within one (1) year of hire/reclassification.
• Prefer Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification (Traffic Option Only).
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include.
- Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
- Pre-Employment Screening –Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
- Selection/Offers -
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
