MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in office or field customer service, landscaping or maintenance work pertaining to water meters. Preference will be given to experience obtained with a utility or a water utility company.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Must acquire and maintain a State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade I within eighteen (18) months from the date of hire, transfer, promotion, or reclassification. Failure to meet the State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator I Certification within the requirement time frame will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- A State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator in Training Certificate Grade I may be considered an equivalency based on NDEP’s requirements.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- Practical exam (Pass/Fail) Must pass the Practical exam at 70% to move onto the Oral Board.
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
- Pre-Employment Screening –Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
