MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years of logistics or fire service experience, and general knowledge and experience
in the repair and maintenance of firefighting support equipment, life support equipment or very similar equipment - Associates Degree preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain within one (1) year and prior to the completion of the
probationary period a valid Nevada state driver's license Class B with F endorsements and maintain
satisfactory motor vehicle record; or - A comparable license from their state of primary residence and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle
record. - Obtain and maintain SCBA factory certification in repair and maintenance from manufacturer within
one (1) year of employment. - Obtain and maintain Personal Protective Equipment certification in the design, specification and
evaluation of all firefighting personal protective equipment to include structural and wild land
equipment. - Obtain ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 & 800 certifications within two (2) years of employment.
- Fire Officer I certification preferred..
SELECTION PROCESS
1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
2. Oral Panel Interview - Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%
3. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. Although there have been recent changes to laws regarding the legal possession and consumption of marijuana, the City of North Las Vegas will continue to adhere to its professional standards and guidelines as it relates to recent and continuous use of the drug.
