MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Construction Management, Construction Technology-Building Trades, or closely related field as determined by Fire Department management, from a accredited college or university is required at the time of application; and/or
Two (2) years of experience as a fire plans examiner or equivalent full-time position in a similar government or private organization: and/or
Three (3) years of experience as a Fire Inspector or equivalent full-time position in a similar government or private organization.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Possess and maintenance of current certification from the International Code Council as Fire Plans Examiner at time of application or reclassification. Must maintain thereafter for the duration of employment.
Must obtain and maintain certification from the International Code Council (ICC) as Fire Inspector I and II and Building Plans Examiner within eleven (11) months of hire or classification.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain an appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. May occasionally need to make on-site visits to construction sites and/or existing facilities to visualize proposed fire protection systems and conditions of installations. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet. Must be able to work any shift or days of the week. Varied work hours which could include extended shifts, nights, weekends and holidays. Regular and timely attendance is required. Use of safety equipment as needed.
