MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Systems (GIS),  Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in GIS development, including working with ArcGIS or other GIS software.
  • Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education, professional work experience, and training in integrating GIS with software systems, with proven experience in application development and database management. The City assesses one (1) year of professional work experience equal to one (1) year of education.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Nevada state driver’s license, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GIS Professional (GISP) certification
  • Certification in programming languages, including Python or JavaScript
  • ITIL or other relevant IT certifications


SELECTION PROCESS

  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include: (dates to be determined).
  3. Virtual Pre-Screen 
  4. Oral Board Interview 
  5. Pre-Employment Screening –  Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
