Qualifications and Attributes:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field;
AND
A minimum of two years of professional work experience performing administrative, budgetary, operational or grant administration work.
Equivalency: May substitute a combination of education, training and experience that produces the knowledge skills and abilities required for the job and related to the essential functions of the position.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Principles and practices of public administration and grant program funding and implementation.
• Basic data sampling and statistical analysis techniques; project and people management, basic budgetary practices and terminology.
• Grant research, analysis and sourcing; grant writing; editing grant proposals.
• Recordkeeping principles and practices.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation; ability to write reports, correspondence and other materials.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional periodicals and journals, legal documents, technical procedures and government regulations.
• Researching, compiling and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials.
• Applying logical and analytical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks.
• Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment.
• Engaging and working cooperatively with various stakeholders, including elected officials, City leadership, city departments, diverse citizen groups, executives of private and public agencies, and community leaders.
• Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, briefing supervisors, and following up on assignments.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a normal office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather or discomfort associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone; speak in a clear and comprehensible manner; and, hear and respond to questions posed.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading.
Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 pounds unassisted.
Work conditions are typically moderately quiet.
Regular and timely attendance is required.
