ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $24.64. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm.
THE ROLE
Under general supervision, supports the implementation and delivery of services to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Assists by providing direct outreach, and facilitating access to services, shelter intake assessments, service referrals, and follow-up support. Serves as a liaison between clients and community resources to ensure access to shelter, housing, health, and social services, while maintaining accurate documentation and data entry to support program outcomes.

This candidate is skilled at building trust with vulnerable populations, navigating community services, and staying calm under pressure
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; Certificate Associate’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Two (2) years of work experience in social services, outreach work, or working with vulnerable populations, preferably including homelessness or case management.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver’s license, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Training in CPR/First Aid, Narcan administration, or trauma-informed care is desirable.
- HMIS training and certification is preferred.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application – Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume – The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%)
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
