ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following)

 

•    Reports directly to the Homeless Services Coordinator and provides support as needed.
•    Reviews requests from City officials, CityTrack, H.O.M.E. hotline, concerned citizens, business owners, etc., to prepare and prioritize work orders and outreach efforts.
•    Resolves questions and complaints from the public.
•    Troubleshoots complicated field situations or challenges.
•    Coordinates with Roadway Operations, Code Enforcement, Parking Services, COP and Municipal Court regarding any assignments that might require each other’s assistance.
•    Leads street outreach efforts related to the City’s Homeless Services initiative.
•    Works with and provides transportation (as needed) for the H.O.M.E. Team as assigned, engaging with homeless individuals in encampments, parks, and other public/private places with the intention of providing essential services to unsheltered homeless individuals and families, connecting them with shelter, emergency lodging, housing, and other critical services to include medical care, substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling; distribution of basic needs such as food, water, hygiene kits, bus passes, etc.
•    Ensures accurate reporting and proper documentation is annotated and uploaded in Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for H.O.M.E. Team.
•    Maintains records and logs, and ensures reports of daily, bi-weekly and monthly activities are provided by the H.O.M.E. Team.
•    Ensures work is being completed according to standards. Reviews progress of work during and at completion, while providing pertinent members with status updates and finalization of projects.
•    Provides assistance and training; ensures departmental policies & procedures, as well as all safety policies are followed.
•    Be a cooperative, effective team member, whose behavior and actions are supportive of co-workers and the administrative policies set forth by the City of North Las Vegas.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

•    High School diploma or GED certificate

•    At least one year of professional experience working with people experiencing homelessness, in recovery, with mental health diagnoses, veterans or related experience is preferred.

 

Licenses and Certifications:

•    Must possess a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record at the time of hire. Failure to maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License will result in non-confirmation of appointment.
