MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Five (5) years progressively responsible experience performing skilled trades work, including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting and a variety of related building trades duties, with preferably two (2) years of supervisory or lead level experience.
- Completion of apprenticeship in one of the building trades or completion of a building trades certificate from a community college or construction or project management experience pertaining to the fields of Building Maintenance and Roadway Operations is preferred.
- Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job and related to the essential functions of the position.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- Must obtain and maintain the following certifications:
- EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification within twelve (12) months of hire or reclassification.
- ICC Journeyman Electrician Certification or equivalent within twelve (12) months of hire or reclassification.
- Nevada State Fire Alarm Certification (F Card) within twelve (12) months of hire or reclassification.
- Respirator Certification within six (6) months of hire or reclassification.
- Completion card for an OSHA 30 hours Construction within fifteen (15) days of the date of hire or reclassification.
- Fork lift certificate within six (6) months of the date of hire or reclassification.
- A valid IMSA or ATSSA Work Zone Safety Certification within twelve (12) months of hire or reclassification.
- Failure to meet the above requirements may result in non-confirmation of position.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Oral Board Interview - (Weight 100%, Passing Score 70%)
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
