CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) years of work experience in Human Resources; labor relations and/or employee relations preferred, with a minimum of two (2) years in advising management and conducting workplace investigations.
- Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education, related work experience and/or training that provides the knowledge, and skills to perform the essential functions may be considered in lieu of education requirement. The City assesses one (1) year of related work experience equal to one (1) year of education.
- Previous experience working in a labor environment with Union contracts is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Professional certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) and/or SHRM Certified is preferred.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume. The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include:
- Case Study/Investigative Summary
- Oral Board Interview with Presentation
- Selection Interview
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
This process may be modified to include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
Appointment may be subject to the successful and timely completion of a post offer pre-employment background investigation and medical/physical examination, including a drug/alcohol test.
