ESSENTIAL INFORMATION 

THE ROLE

The Land Development Intern provides comprehensive administrative and front desk support to ensure efficient daily operations within the department. This role assists the Director and Director’s Assistant with calendar management, meeting preparation, documentation, and the drafting of correspondence, reports, and standard operating procedures. The intern also supports scheduling, meeting coordination, and administrative functions for Business License and Code Enforcement.
Serving as the first point of contact at the Information Desk, the intern greets visitors, verifies appointments, provides accurate information, and directs individuals to the appropriate department. Additionally, the role supports mailroom operations by sorting and logging incoming mail and packages, ensuring proper delivery, adhering to security protocols, escorting delivery personnel, and maintaining an organized mailroom environment.
 

Pay Considerations 
The hourly pay for this position is $15 - $19 based on education level.

Work Schedule
This position is scheduled to work Monday and Thursday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Part-Time/Temporary Position

  • This position is a part time/temporary position and does not include health or medical benefits.
  • Hours for this position will not exceed 935 per calendar year (see weekly hours for this position under work schedule).

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and customer-focused, with strong administrative and communication skills. They demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and are comfortable scanning, organizing, and managing documents efficiently. This individual provides excellent customer service in interactions with staff, visitors, and vendors, communicates clearly both verbally and in writing, and handles confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Fluency in Spanish or another language is desired.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Current enrollment in any of the following degree programs: HR Management, Business, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
  • Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • A valid Nevada driver’s license>
