MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience as a legal secretary or in a law related environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a State of Nevada Notary Public Commission within six (6) months of employment, as a condition of continued employment.
  • Proficient in typing and operating a computer keyboard to efficiently enter and retrieve data, with a minimum typing speed of forty-five (45) words per minute; must provide a typing certification dated within the last year of date of application.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include 
  3. Typing Test (Pass/Fail)
  4. Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%)
  5. Pre-Employment Screening – For non-police positions only: Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.

The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
