A Library Outreach and Community Engagement Assistant is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success!
This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and one (1) vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Library Administration department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $23.17. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Wednesday-Saturday. Wednesday & Thursday from 10am-8pm and Friday & Saturday from 8am-6pm at our Aliante Library Location (2400 W. Deer Springs Way. NLV, NV 89084).
THE ROLE
Under direct supervision, assists the Library Outreach and Community Engagement Manager (LOACEM) planning, coordinating, implementing, and collaborating with community groups and organizations to promote the Library District’s programs and services, attending outreach events and community meetings, and collecting data on program effectiveness and community needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Communications, or closely related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of library or community outreach experience.
- Equivalency: Minimum five (5) years combination of education, training, and working experience related to community outreach or library experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree and experience listed above.
- Must possess a valid Nevada state driver’s license or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a diverse community.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Experience with Library services and programs.
SELECTION PROCESS

- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%)
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
