ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $23.17. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm. As this role supports a 24/7 operation within the Police Department, work hours may be adjusted based on operational needs.

Provides technical or specialized office support requiring the regular use of independent judgment and initiative.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will need to be a high-level performer, be able to handle constant change of focus in different tasks assigned. The candidate will need to have dependability, reliability and responsibility timeliness, professionalism, willingness to learn, desire to streamline processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, strong customer service skills, computer knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of highly responsible office support experience.
• Prefer some continuing education in secretarial science, business or job-related.
Licenses and Certifications
• NCIC Certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire (Police department positions only)
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
• Typing rate of 45 net words per minute.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- eSkill Assessment - Pass/Fail - Top scoring candidates from this assessment will be invited to participate in the Pre-Screening Interview.
- Pre-Screening Interview - Pass/Fail - Top scoring candidates from this assessment will be invited to participate in the Oral Panel Interview.
- Oral Panel Interview
- Pre-Employment Screening – Background Screening/Investigation Includes an extensive background check, polygraph/CVSA examination, medical/drug screen exam. All top scoring candidates must pass the Background Investigation in order to move forward in the process. Applicants who proceed in the selection process will be required to complete an extensive police background. Among other items, the following are disqualifying behaviors: Any felony conviction. Any domestic violence conviction. Gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Although there have been recent changes to laws regarding the legal possession and consumption of marijuana, the City of North Las Vegas will continue to adhere to its professional standards and guidelines as it relates to recent and continuous use of the drug.

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
