Qualifications and Attributes:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience which required frequent difficult public contact in person, preferably in the parking industry.
- Experience with the understanding, interpretation and enforcement of laws or ordinances.
- The ability to successfully pass a national background check, fingerprint check and a Voice Stress Analysis (VSA).
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License and be able to provide a DMV driving record printout, free of traffic violations for the past five (5) years.
- Possession of a Flagger Certification within four (4) weeks of the date of hire or reclassification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Modern office procedures and methods and basic record keeping principles.
- The ability to follow the City’s safe driving policies and procedures.
- Performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Learning to operate IT equipment to process and acquire data relative to enforcement activities.
- Drive and maintain assigned vehicle in a safe manner.
- Learn all City parking and related ordinances.
- Ability to lift and/or move objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Assess and immediately respond to traffic hazards while directing traffic.
- Learn the Nevada motor vehicle codes related to non-moving traffic violations.
- Learn the geography of all assigned enforcement areas.
- Enforce parking regulations in a firm but tactful manner.
- Work independently without constant supervision.
- Learn, understand and apply pertinent laws, rules and regulations.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
- Learn the 400 radio codes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and precisely with police dispatch over 2-way radio.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internal and external.
Evaluation:
- Selected candidates must pass written exam with a score of 70% or above to qualify for an interview
- Selected candidated determined 100% from the Oral Interview.
