A Park Maintenance Worker I is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success!
This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 2 vacancies for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Park and Recreation department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $23.23. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the first 90 days. After that period, the schedule will change. Please note that flexibility is required, as the selected candidate must be available to work any assigned shift based on the needs of the department.
THE ROLE
This is an entry-level position for park maintenance worker. Performs unskilled and semi-skilled work in the care and maintenance of parks, playing fields, and other landscaped and recreation areas; performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair to park facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent and;
- 6 months progressively responsible experience performing park, landscape, or horticulture maintenance work.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provides knowledge, skills, and abilities, required for the job and related to the essential functions of the position.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess or obtain a valid Nevada driver’s license at time of hire and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record for the duration of employment.
- Must possess or complete an OSHA-10 hour Construction Training Course Certification within 15 calendar days of hire, and must be continuously maintained while employed in this classification (NRS618.983).
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
- Selection/Offers
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
