Key Focus of the Role:
(Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following)
- Responsibilities include installation, maintenance and repair of Police Department computers.
- Prepare computers for deployment including the installation of computer images created by City IT.
- Inspects and evaluates new installations of fixed and mobile equipment including vehicular installations.
- Makes recommendations for the replacement of non-repairable mobile data equipment.
- Updating daily logs with site-specific information; and composing clear, concise reports for system documentation for State and Federal agencies.
- Prepares reports of completed specialized assignments and projects.
- Liaison between FBI and State regulatory agencies in defining technical problems and solutions for broad NCIC applications.
- Provide high level of customer service to ensure the needs of the officers in the field are met in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicates directly with vendors regarding problem analysis, and resolutions in the set up of computer equipment and, software for specialized public safety requirements.
- Develop strong relationships with both the police community and City IT division to deploy computer resources effectively and to resolve hardware and software issues to minimize loss of productivity for officers in the field. Provides recommendations for process improvement changes with the input of technical staff.
- Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Associate's degree from a two-year (2) college OR technical school in electronics engineering technology, laptop/PC repair, or related field, AND three (3) years experience in computer trouble shooting techniques for personal computer/laptop hardware and software problems.
- Experience with a public safety agency preferred.
Equivalency: Five (5) years of personal computer trouble shooting and repair experience in a mid size to large organization may be substituted for the education and experience above.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- Microsoft Certified Professional MCP Certification, CompTIA A+ Certification and CWNP Certification preferred.
- Certification of NCIC required within one (1) year of hire date.
