ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Part-Time/Temporary Position – This position is a part time/temporary position and DOES NOT include health or medical benefits. Hours for this position will not exceed 938 per calendar year.
Pay Considerations – The hourly pay for this position is $16.00.
Work Schedule – Work hours vary seasonally, averaging approximately 19 hours per week during the off-season and increasing to 40 or more hours per week during the summer season (May–September). You must be able to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, overtime, stand by and holidays. Hours will not exceed 935 per calendar year.
Work Location – Multiple recreational centers across North Las Vegas. Applicants should indicate their preferred location using the dropdown menu above.
THE ROLE
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for development and instruction for a variety of specialized programs and is responsible for performance of assigned lead program specialist duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Minimum age of 18 years
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Two (2) years of training or experience in Recreation, Physical Education, or closely related acceptable field and one (1) year as Program Specialist with the City of North Las Vegas;
- Or Three (3) years of training or experience in Recreation, Physical Education, or closely related acceptable field.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid Nevada state driver’s license/Identification Credential or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Must possess a Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate within two weeks of hire prior to performing the essential functions of position. NLS will provide training.
- Must possess a Clark County Health Card (Food Handler Card) within thirty (30) days of date of hire.
SELECTION PROCESS

2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
3. Oral board interview (Pass/Fail).
4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; drug screening; and a Child Abuse & Neglect Registry clearance for applicants 18 years of age or above. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete
