ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations – The salary range for the position is 46,449.92 - 72,719.16 Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm.
THE ROLE
Under the direction of the Communications Director coordinates and implements the City’s public information, consumer and constituent affairs, and special projects; contributes to the City’s social media resources and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, public relations, marketing, journalism, communications, or a closely related field; and
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent professional work experience in public relations, marketing,
journalism, communications, media coverage or related area. - Demonstrated experience required in working with the public, social media, and dealing with topics under intense public and media scrutiny.
- Fluency in Spanish, both orally and in written, is required.
- Or, an equivalent combination of education, training or experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job and related to the essential functions of the position. The City assesses one (1) year of fulltime experience as equivalent to one (1) year of education.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include
- Spanish Exam/Practical (Pass or Fail)
- Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%)
- Selection Interview
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
