MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Two years college or university with course study in recreation, physical education or closely related field, and 
  • Two years of recent work experience in the coordination of recreation programs/recreational activities, physical education or closely related field.
Equivalency: Four years of recent work experience in the coordination of recreation programs/recreational activities, physical education or closely related field OR possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or closely related field may be substituted for the education and experience required above.

Licenses and Certifications: 

  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame. 
  • Valid First Aid Certification at time of application. 
  • Valid CPR Certification at time of application.

Knowledge of:

  • Modern principles and practices of recreation and leisure services 
  • Rules and regulations for various games/events.
Skills: 
  • Use tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines. 
  • Organize work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction.
  • Apply logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols. 
  • Good mathematical skills. 
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Plan, organize, assign, direct, review and evaluate the work of assigned staff. 
  • Select and motivate staff and provide for their training and professional development. 
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
