QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Two years of progressively responsible construction/maintenance experience in the maintenance of roadways, neighborhood clean-up program, or rapid response program.
Licenses and Certifications
• Must possess a valid Class B Nevada Commercial Driver’s License and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record at time of hire, transfer, promotion or reclassification. May require specific endorsements, such as tanker, air brakes, etc. Failure to maintain a valid Class B Nevada Commercial Driver's License will result in non-confirmation of appointment.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid IMSA or ATSSA Work Zone Safety Certification within one year of hire or promotion. Failure to maintain this certification will result in non-confirmation of appointment.
• The following certifications are not required to obtain the job, however, certifications must be completed and maintained within one year of hire or reclassification. Applicants possessing any of above listed certifications may be given priority.
• Preference: Possession of a valid IMSA or ATSSA Work Zone Safety Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Performing skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled work on roadway and right of way drainage infrastructure systems.
• Assists in the estimating and planning of maintenance projects.
• Leading crews of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled personnel.
• Using a personal computer and appropriate software programs pertinent to the job.
• Using technical instruments and equipment related to the work.
• Assist in estimating and planning maintenance projects.
• Supervise skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance personnel.
• Make basic mathematical calculations.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Maintains records and activities reports. Assists in the preparation of detailed proposals.
• Read and understand blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications.
• While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch, and climb or balance and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• Must be able to work any shift or days of the week.
• Working conditions are typically moderately loud.
• Regular and timely attendance is required.
SELECTION PROCESS:
• Practical Exam Required: Weight 100% Passing Score of 70% or Higher to proceed to the Oral Panel Interview
• Oral Interview: Weight 100% Passing Score 70%
