MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience
•    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in occupational safety and health; business public health administration or closely related field
•    Five years of responsible experience developing or administrating an industrial safety program, industrial safety, loss control, accident prevention or a closely related field
•    Experience in conducting safety training
•    Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Power Point, Excel, and Word).
•    Equivalency: May substitute a combination of equivalent education and experience. The City assesses 2 years of full-time experience as equivalent to one year of education.

 

Licenses and Certifications
•    Certified in Safety Management preferred (i.e. CSP, CSM, CSHM, ASHM)
•    OSHA 10 Hour and OSHA 30 Hour required
•    OSHA 500 & 501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety & Health Standards for the Construction and General Industry required
•    Desirable: Certification from an organization equivalent to ISHM, ASSE, or the BCSP
•    Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record; with the ability to obtain an appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within the required time frame
 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 
•    While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a typical office environment, used standard office equipment, read printed material and a computer terminal/screen, communicate in person and over the telephone, and is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, climb or balance, talk and hear, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
•    Works in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with the changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like. 
•    Employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing various tasks during their performance of job functions that require PPE.
