MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of professional work experience in the assigned specialty area or data analytics projects with responsibility for providing analytical services to a variety of businesses.
  • Equivalency: Eight (8) years of progressively professional work experience in the assigned specialty area or data analytics with responsibility for providing services to a variety of business environments. The City assesses one (1) year of work experience to be equivalent to one (1) year of
    education.
  • Previous experience working in public sector or with government data is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or similar certification preferred.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver’s license, and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • NCIC Certification required within six (6) months of hire/reclassification. Failure to obtain and maintain this certification will result in non-confirmation of appointment.


SELECTION PROCESS

  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume – The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
  3. Pre-screening interview. 
  4. Oral Board Interview.
  5. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete. 
  6. Selection/Offers – 

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
