A SENIOR LIFEGUARD (PART-TIME TEMPORARY) is an essential member of our team, we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success! Please thoroughly review the information and selection process outlined below this announcement.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Part-Time/Temporary Position – This position is a part time/temporary position and DOES NOT include health or medical benefits. Hours for this position will not exceed 938 per calendar year.
- Pay Considerations – The hourly pay for this position is $19.
- Work Schedule – The work hours varies (days, swings or graveyard) depending on the worksite’s need. May be working an average of 19 hours per week during off season and 40+ hours during summer season – May through September. This position may be required to work holidays.
- Work location – Various recreational centers throughout North Las Vegas (please choose from dropdown menu above your location preference).
THE ROLE
Under direct supervision, independently carries out programs for both indoor and outdoor parks and recreation activities. Works directly with program participants in a physically active recreation program environment. Recreation program assignments are varied and may include early childhood, aquatics, golf course, sports (adult and youth), class instruction, seniors, mobile recreation, special events, safekey (before and after school – elementary youth), and day camp.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age of 18 years
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Minimum of nine (9) months experience in working with youth and adults in a responsible position
OR
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides knowledge, skills, and
abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid state of Nevada driver’s license/Identification Credential or have the ability to
obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record. - Applicants must be able to obtain all required below certifications within two weeks of date of hire and prior to working in Pool Manager or an instructor capacity. NLS will provide all need training.
- American Red Cross or StarGuard Lifeguard Training Certificate which includes Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Water Safety Instructor Certificate Lifeguard Training Instructor Certificate
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; drug screening; applicants 18 years of age will also go through federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints and a Child Abuse & Neglect Registry clearance.
