A Special Assistant to the Director or Manager is an essential member of our team. The current vacancy is in the Land Development department. ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations –The starting salary range for the position is $59,513.92. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36-hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
THE ROLE
Performs a broad range of highly responsible, complex, and confidential administrative support and higher-level clerical coordination duties for the Department Director. Handles confidential and/or sensitive information requiring the use of significant discretion. Responsibilities involve a high degree of planning and coordinating activities and may include facilitating administrative processes by serving as a team leader on delegated administrative support matters. Supervise and assign work of the office support staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in business communication, communications or a field related to a function of municipal government. Bachelor’s degree preferred; and
- Five (5) years of full-time progressively responsible administrative and analytical experience performing organizational and operational analysis work in a government or business capacity, including experience as a supervisor. Two (2) years of recent supervisory experience preferred.
- Equivalency: May substitute a combination of equivalent education and experience. The city assesses 1 year of full-time experience as equivalent to one year of education.
Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain an appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within the required time frame.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
- Online Assessment – The assessment will measure the candidate’s knowledge and proficiency in attention to detail, proofreading, grammar, and written communication. (weighted 20%, Passing Score 70%).
- Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 80%, Passing Score 70%).
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening, which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
