ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $29.37 - $41.96 The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36-hour work week) Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm. May be required to work various shifts; emergency call outs;

THE ROLE
Under general supervision, operates City owned equipment to support various daily operations
including sweeping, dust control, transportation of vehicles, construction projects, flood maintenance, minor maintenance on equipment, and other roadway operations. When sweeping, assigned routes may have to respond to emergency clean-up situations.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a reliable and safety-focused operator with experience in street sweeping or roadway maintenance. They are skilled in operating and maintaining sweeping equipment, following traffic laws, and identifying roadway hazards. With a valid Nevada CDL and the ability to earn required safety certifications, they bring strong attention to detail, clear communication, and a commitment to keeping city streets safe and clean
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in the operation of street sweeping equipment or equivalent two (2) years of experience in roadway infrastructure maintenance within a public sector entity may be considered for the required experience.
Licenses and Certifications - A valid Nevada state Class “A” or “B” Commercial Driver’s License with required special endorsements; e.g., air brakes, and tanker, and must maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Must obtain a completion card for an OSHA 10 Hour Construction within fifteen (15) days of the date of hire.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid IMSA or ATSSA Work Zone Safety Certification within twelve (12) months of hire or promotion.
- Clark County Air Quality Dust Control within twelve (12) months of appointment to position.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Personnel File Review - Pass/Fail, Minimum passing score is 75%- All current employees seeking internal positions will undergo a personnel file review. The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary/qualifying periods), and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.
- Practical Exam - (Weight 70% Passing Score 70% to move into Oral interview)
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%)

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
