MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • High school diploma and, three years of recent paid work experience in one of the following areas: PC repair and troubleshooting, Helpdesk support, Systems Administration. Associates Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Equivalency: May substitute a combination of equivalent education and experience. The city assesses 1 year of fulltime experience as equivalent to one year of education.
  • G.E.D. may be substituted for high school diploma.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Microsoft (MCSE/MCP) Certification or CompTIA A+ Certification preferred. Continued paid work experience with continuous use of knowledge acquired after having completed one of the above certifications may be substituted for having a current certification.
  • NCIC Certification required within six months of hire/reclassification. Failure to obtain and maintain this certification will result in non-confirmation of appointment.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. Online Assessment - (Weighted 25%, Passing Score 70%) - The most qualified individuals will be invited to participate in an online assessment that may measure candidates ability to maintain attention to detail, leadership skills, customer service and may include items related to performing the essential functions of the position.
  3. Practical exam - (Weighted 25%, Passing Score 70%) - Must pass the Practical exam at 70% to move onto the Oral Board.
  4. Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 50%, Passing Score 70%) - Top scoring candidates from the online assessment will be invited to participate in the in-person interview.  
  5. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.
  6. Selection/Offers -

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
