MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible related experience in
  • maintenance and repair of electrical/electronics, to include one (1) year journey-level Experience and two (2) years traffic signal, roadway lighting, area lighting and/or sports lighting experience.
  • Supplemental course work in electrical/electronics preferred OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Nevada Class B Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate Nevada State Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) w/
  • Air Brake endorsement; Automatic Transmission restriction permissible within 12 months
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • MSA Work Zone Safety within six (6) months of hire.
  • IMSA Level I Traffic Signal Technician within six (6) months of hire.
  • IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Technician within one (1) year of hire.
  • IMSA Roadway Lighting within six (6) months of hire.
  • Journey-Level Electrician Certification at time of hire.
  • OSHA 30 card within sixty (60) days of hire.
  • IMSA Fiber optic for ITS level II certification for installation, termination and design within one (1) year.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%):  
  3. Pre-Employment Screening – For non-police positions only: Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.
  4. Selection/Offers

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
