Qualifications and Attributes:
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma/GED;
• Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible related experience in maintenance and repair of electrical/electronics, to include one (1) year journey-level experience and two (2) years traffic signal, roadway lighting, area lighting and/or sports lighting experience. Supplemental course work in electrical/electronics preferred.
• OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
• Nevada Class B Driver’s License.
• Ability to obtain appropriate Nevada State Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) w/ Air Brake endorsement; Automatic Transmission restriction permissible within 12 months
• CPR and First Aid Certification within one (1) year of hire.
• IMSA Work Zone Safety within six (6) months of hire.
• IMSA Level I Traffic Signal Technician within six (6) months of hire.
• IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Technician within one (1) year of hire.
• IMSA Roadway Lighting within six (6) months of hire.
• Journey-Level Electrician Certification at time of hire.
• OSHA 30 card within sixty (60) days of hire.
• IMSA Fiber optic for ITS level II certification for installation, termination and design within one (1) year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Principles, methods and materials used in the installation, repair, modification, and maintenance of a traffic signal systems and equipment, including microprocessor, digital, analog, and solid state systems.
• Methods and materials used electronic information and control system installation, maintenance and repair.
• Operation and maintenance of a variety of hand, power and shop tools and test equipment used in the trade.
• Applicable codes and regulations.
• Safe work methods and safety procedures pertaining to duties assigned.
• Shop mathematics.
• Record keeping practices.
• Job estimation.
• Computer applications related to the work and hardware related to intelligent transportation systems and transportation and communication systems.
• Adjusting and calibrating electronic equipment and ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
• Design, construction and installation of control and monitoring systems.
• Use and maintenance of tools and testing equipment.
• Observes electrical safe practices.
• Performing accurate arithmetic calculations.
• Understanding and following oral and written directions.
• Operating and maintaining specialized equipment required for traffic signal installation, modification, maintenance and repair.
• Designing, laying out and preparing sketches for traffic signal and related installation and maintenance jobs.
• Estimating necessary materials, parts and equipment to complete assignments.
• Safely using and maintaining hand and power tools and test equipment related to the work.
• Directing and instructing others on a project basis.
• Maintaining accurate records of work performed.
• Reading and interpreting manuals, specifications, drawings and blueprints.
• Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
• Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work.

• While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, loud noise, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Frequent exposure of work time to moderate hazards when climbing ladders or scaffolds or working on live electrical wires.
• Frequent exposure of work time to hazardous traffic conditions.
• May be required at times to work in an aerial truck at heights up to 85 feet.
• May be required to wear personal protective equipment.
• Regular and timely attendance is required.
