Key Focus of the Role:
(Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following)
- Provides information to the public and other parties of the warrant process. Assists the public in completing forms without offering legal advice.
- Answers phone and responds to general inquires about various Warrant procedures.
- Enters regional and highway patrol citations into computer; prints dockets.
- Updates and maintains work program cases; approves clients for enrollment and verifies their completed hours with help of responsible agency.
- Uses computer to enter and retrieve reports so that materials can be easily located; searches for and locates missing reports and files; retrieves files and cases.
- Interacts with defendants, attorneys and other persons requesting information or documents related to warrants or other related matters.
Qualifications and Attributes:
Education and Experience:
Warrant Clerk I:
- High School Diploma or equivalent REQUIRED.
- Four (4) or more years of highly responsible office support experience REQUIRED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a law enforcement agency.
- Continuing education in secretarial science, business or job-related field.
Licenses and Certifications:
Warrant Clerk I:
- Must type 40 accurate net words per minute as demonstrated by a typing certificate dated no more than one year prior to the date of application. Copy of typing certificate MUST be attached to your application (REQUIRED)
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- Ability to receive NCIC certification within six months of hire/reclassification. Certification training will be provided by the employer after date of hire/reclassification.
