MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
- Equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician AND three (3) years of full-time skilled experience in the electrical trade. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the apprenticeship program on a year-for-year basis. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable, as is experience with electronic controls and experience in an industrial or water or wastewater plant setting.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- Must possess and maintain an appropriate fork lift certificate within 6 months of the date of appointment.
- Certification for the State of Nevada "F" Fire Alarm Protection System installation and maintenance is desirable.
Knowledge of:
- Principles, methods and materials used in the installation, repair and maintenance of a variety of electrical systems and equipment; methods and materials used in electronic information and control system installation, maintenance and repair; operation and maintenance of a variety of hand, power and shop tools and test equipment used in the trade; safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work; shop mathematics; basic record keeping practices; and basic job estimation.
Skills:
- Operating and maintaining specialized tools and test and safety equipment of the electrical trade; designing, laying out and preparing sketches for electrical, electronic and related installation and maintenance jobs; estimating necessary materials, parts and equipment to complete assignments; safely using and maintaining hand and power tools and test equipment related to the work; maintaining accurate records of work performed; reading and interpreting manuals, specifications, drawings and blueprints; using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work.
