A Water Reclamations Facility (WRF) Operator 1 is an essential member of our team and we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV’S growing success!
Internal Notice for Teamster Team Members: This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill two (2) vacancies for this classification. The current vacancy is in the UTILITIES department. The internal Teamster eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred and eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the internal Teamster eligibility list. All other team members including part-time/temporary employees along with external candidates may apply for this recruitment. These individuals may be considered after the appropriate recruitment process of the collective bargaining agreement has been followed. If the vacancy is not filled through promotion by a full-time non-probationary Teamster team members, the next opportunity for placement will be to hire qualified part-time/temporary employees and external candidates.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

- Pay Considerations – The starting hourly pay for this position is $29.55. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining.
- Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36 hour work week). There are two shifts: Tuesday-Friday 6:00am-3:30pm & Saturday-Tuesday 6:00am-3:30pm. May be required to work various shifts, overtime, stand-by, and call back during off hours to respond to emergencies.
- Environment –While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, or vibration. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet, but may be loud for limited durations while working with power tools, equipment, or machinery following all prescribed safety rules and regulations. Regular and timely attendance is required.
THE ROLE
Learns and performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and related service activities for the WRF. Individuals in this class drive a variety of vehicles and operate equipment for the treatment of wastewater.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Graduation from high school or equivalent; and
- One (1) year of full-time experience in construction, mechanical, or maintenance trades.
- Equivalent combinations of experience, training, and/or education which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the major functions of the position may be considered.
- All positions must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.
- Must possess and maintain an appropriate fork lift certificate within 6 months of the date of appointment.
- Must possess a valid State of Nevada Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade I Certificate at time of appointment. Reciprocity for equivalent certifications from other states may be considered
SELECTION PROCESS
- Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
- The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
- Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
- Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
- Selection/Offers -
Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
